Ensemble
"Los
Tanyaderos" is an ensemble of two to ten performers who are
unique and talented musicians of various ethnic and classical
instruments. Each one is capable of performing individually
or with the ensemble and they have very diverse and active
careers as performers and musicians. Los Tanyaderos is dedicated
to the preservation of the ethnic music of endangered cultures.
At
the present time they specialize in Sephardic music and concerts
of international themes in more than a dozen languages. The
most common instruments are the Oud, Flute, Drum, Mandolin,
Kanun, Nay, Violin and Piano. Los Tanyaderos produced a double
CD of Sephardic songs in 1999 called "Kantigas
de Mi Chikés" (Songs of my Childhood),

A
featured performer in the ensemble is John Bilezikjian who
has been involved with Sephardic music for 34 years and in
collaboration with Bonita for 13 of those years.
He
regularly records for television and motion picture sound
tracks such as "Schindler's List", "Prince of Egypt", "Anastasia,
"Book of Stars" and many others. He can be heard on Robert
Palmer's CD "Ridin High", Placedo Domingo's "Por Amor" and
Ofra Haza's release "Kirya". He has toured with Leanard Cohen
and has worked under the baton of Lalo Shifrin, Maurice Jarre
and Zubin Mehta. Through his personality, knowledge and love
of music he has become an educator as well as an entertainer
on the music of the Middle East and Europe. He is well versed
in the stringed instruments from around the world and has
many recordings of his own on the market.
